What you will be doing

The north of Leoben is rich in coal − but people did not always know that. Coal was also called “black gold”, because it lay deep in the earth and was very valuable. Miners did everything in their power to bring this “black gold” to the surface.

In the workshop we will be talking about the special properties of coal, about the hard life of the workers, and the customs and traditions that developed over the years. We also learn why rats were in fact welcome down the mines!
